Frome Valley Parish Council (which covers the parishes of Cattistock, Chilfrome, Frome St Quintin and part of Holywell) is seeking to appoint a part-time Parish Clerk / Responsible Financial Officer to the support the council and work closely with the Chairman, Vice Chairman and Councillors.

The contract is for 8 hours per week, paid in accordance with NALC salary scale SCP LC1 7-12, depending on experience.

The Parish Council convenes on six evenings a year (on the last Monday of alternate months – Jan, Mar, May, July, Sept & Nov). In exceptional circumstance additional meetings are called.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Strong IT skills – spreadsheets, documents, email, website publishing, records management;
  • A Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA), or a willingness to achieve this qualification;
  • Experience in end-to-end accounting (desirable);
  • An understanding and knowledge of local government organisations and procedures (desirable).
